Ad Widget Advertising 2.0

July 19, 2008

The face of online advertising and internet ad networks is changing fast with all the big players advancing their networks using web 2.0 and other online strategies. Not only that but Television’s viewing audience is currently spending 4 times longer on the Internet than watching television. Big advertisers are spending less money with big TV networks because TV commercials are becoming less and less effective.

The big advertisers are getting turned off by television advertising because it is no longer effective. The attraction of the much more targeted advertising model on the Internet is bringing huge amounts of money online. People are using the Internet more and more and turning away from traditional offline media such as newspapers, television and radio.

Google turned itself into a multi-billion dollar company through the advent of advertising but at an ever increasing cost for the advertiser. There is clearly a big and growing market at stake: the online advertising market is estimated by Microsoft to be worth $40bn today.

Since advertising came online in the form of banners etc in the early days of the web, advertising is converging and evolving into many forms in the new media web 2.0 world.

Online ads are evolving into mini-applications with dynamic content such as widgets that are seemingly taking over the web. Services such as widgetbucks have thrown up online advertising onto another level. The company expects to pull in $10 million in sales this year.

So how could you advertise your website for free using widget advertising?

Coming soon is a new viral free widget advertising network. A group of Internet Marketeers have pooled their various different talents, skills and resources to offer advertisers a choice of Ad blocks and Widgets to get their message across a network of websites in their chosen category

initially I found widgets to be very intriguing , yet now after testing several I think some collide and offer an exponential amount of confusion to publishers.
Perhaps I may play dinosaur and delete all my new widgets and dust off html thus reducing my Excedrin usage or shot nerves?
The tec edge is to sharp for an ol T Rex…from the dark ages, I feel compelled to “Say No To Widgets,” yet suspect they may already have lodged themselves into a few applications to deeply to rout out :o

    Nice post research here. props.
